I'd love to see a movie version!
These characters immediately come to life! Even though I read HOUSE OF GOLD before CONCEIVED WITHOUT SIN, I was as captivated as I was with PIERCED BY A SWORD from the very start. It's so refreshing to read about people who are committed to their families and their faith. These ordinary people are living saints. The depiction of the lives of priests and nuns is great! Thank you for sharing your gift, Bud. You should make a movie of this book! Keep up the great job!

I wished it wouldn't end!!!
I just finished Pierced by a Sword today, and I have to say I wished it would never end! Our Catholic faith is awesome, and that is exactly how it comes across in this book -- AWESOME!!! I loved all the characters in the book and felt as if I knew them all personally. The way they lived their faith makes me want to live mine much better!!

Best novel I've ever read!
I have read all three books, and they were all excellent. My favorite was House of Gold. I will probably be thinking about this book for the rest of my life. I have never cried so much reading a book before. Everything seemed so real, like the things in the book really could or really would happen.

The Best Book Ever!
I absolutely loved this book! I was glad to see a continuation of the characters in CONCEIVED WITHOUT SIN. This book is so riveting! I would highly recommend reading CONCEIVED WITHOUT SIN first, so you can better appreciate HOUSE OF GOLD.

A Beautiful, inspirational book!
HOUSE OF GOLD is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read. If this book doesn't inspire and motivate a reader, nothing will. I come from an Irish Catholic background and I found myself being reminded of all the strong souls in my own life by the characters in this book. We need more novels like Bud Mcfarlane's to remind us that we are not alone in our thinking. There is a right way to live life and the Catholic faith hits every nail on the head.

Could it really happen?
After reading PIERCED BY A SWORD, I was hooked on Bud Macfarelane's books! I read CONCEIVED WITHOUT SIN immediately upon publication. However, I began reading HOUSE OF GOLD in late 1999 and had to put it down after two chapters. It was so realistic that it spooked me! I am glad now that I waited. I just finished it and it left me on the edge of my seat--but in a different way than I felt prior to Y2K. I am truly looking forward to more works by this wonderful Catholic author.

My faith is strengthened.
It has been a long time since I have read a novel that has touched my soul so deeply. HOUSE OF GOLD brought the reality of God's providence and gifts of faith to the center of my being. Having experienced what I once perceived as "real loss" (death of one son, another born profoundly retarded, I now know these events were really "gifts" from the Almightly. These Books Changed My Thinking
I am a mother of seven children (aged 10-23), my thoughts and actions as a mother have been altered from a reliance on my intelligence and abilities to a reliance on God through the immense help of Our Blessed Mother and constant prayer. This is the example taught by the characters in all three books. I am a different person since reading these novels. I now have an inner prayer life and a strong desire to receive the Sacraments. My desire has grown exponentially because of the writings of Bud Macfarlane, Jr. Bud's writings were the PERFECT school books for me following my spiritual awakening. Never in my life were these things talked or written about so freely and naturally. The author makes these things a part of everyday thinking which makes our relationship with God grow constantly.
