Worship the Lord, Your God
From the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Simplified
The Liberating God (2084-2085)
Jesus said, "You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve" (Mt 4:10). God recalls his liberating action, "I brought you out of the land of Egypt." Then, he says, "You shall fear the Lord your God, you shall serve him. You shall not go after other gods" (Ex 20:2-5). God demands that man accept him totally and worship him.
Man's vocation is linked to God revealing himself because Man is called to manifest God's likeness. "There will never be another God and there has been no other since the world began (St. Justin).
Our Hope in His Faithfulness (2086)
God is an unchangeable being, faithful and just, without any evil. We should hope in him because he is almighty and infinitely beneficent. God begins and ends the Ten Commandments by saying, "I am the Lord" (Roman Catechism).
