Family Dynamic
Volume XXIII, Number 5 – May 16, 2019
Dear CatholiCity Citizen,
Thank you. Thank you for reading this and for being a part of my life and our work for Our Lady! Let's begin...
Pilgrimage to France in JuneThe number of CatholiCity Citizens who registered for our pilgrimage to bring your intentions to the holiest places in France in late June has been considerably fewer than Fr. John and I hoped.
This pilgrimage is no longer available.
Please, please, if you are considering joining us (or sponsoring a son, grandson, nephew, family friend, or any young man open to discerning a vocation) let me know by replying to this email. Please include your cell phone number in case we need to talk.
If Our Lord has given you the financial means and time to join us to represent your fellow CatholiCity Citizens, please register right away. Suggestion: pray one humble Hail Mary and ask Our Lady if she wants you to go on this life-changing spiritual adventure.
Bonus: most "commercial" pilgrimages have 50 or 100 people, our little band of prayer warriors will foster a unique family dynamic with me, Father John, and your fellow pilgrims!
Submit Your IntentionsOnce again, use the button to submit your intentions for which Father John will offer Mass for every day and I will "hide" permanently at every holy site on a secure flash drive. (Remember, you can return to the webpage over and over again to add intentions as you think of them...)
Intentions are no longer open for this pilgrimage.
Quotations"Virtually all your problems, great and small, can be solved by More Jesus: more prayer and adoration, more Holy Communion, more Confession, more Bible, more fellowship with good Catholic friends. The rest can be solved by going to bed on time."
-G.K. MacBrien
"Love everyone."
-A father I know, when dropping his children off for grammar school
"I wanted to have my sins forgiven."
-G.K. Chesterton, explaining why he converted to Catholicism
"Grace."
-Malcolm Muggeridge, when asked why he did not convert to Catholicism until he was 79 years old.
"Grace."
-Malcolm Muggeridge, when then asked to explain why he did eventually convert to Catholicism when he was 79 years old.
"I was a pagan until I was three weeks old. Then my parents had me baptized."
-Edward Mulholland, and old friend of mine
"The more you talk, the more you get into trouble. Then, once you're in trouble, the more you talk, the more trouble you get out of."
-Matt Shelter, an old high school friend
"Love and do as you will."
-Saint Augustine
I made this up years ago and it always works during group conversations. When someone brings up a subject that they have expertise in and I don't, I follow this formula and say, "Well, everything I know about SUBJECT I learned from watching the movie, MOVIE/TV SHOW." For example, if someone brings up robotics, I say, "Well, everything I know about robotics I learned from watching the movie, The Terminator." Or chemistry. "Well, everything I know about chemistry I learned from watching the television show, Breaking Bad."
I Love PepperWhen I go out to eat, it drives me nuts that very little pepper comes out of the shaker. So I take the top of the shaker off, pour the pepper into my palm, then gingerly distribute enough from my hand to thoroughly coat the entire serving with my beloved spice. Now my sons and their friends imitate this technique. It saves time. Pepper is good for you--I know, because I read it on the Interwebs.
Please Pray with Me And......tens of thousands of your fellow CatholiCity Citizens, simply, to Our Lady, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit...
O Mary, I have so many children, friends, relatives and coworkers who do not practice the faith and are not open to the faith and I worry about their souls. I know God foresaw all of this and placed me in this time and place in history with the grace and responsibility to pray for their salvation.
The burden is too much for me to bear at times. I feel so alone. Please, make every prayer I have prayed during my entire life and will pray for the rest of my life for these souls I love so much your prayer before the Holy Trinity. I believe, with the saints, that any soul can live eternally with Jesus and choose the grace of salvation, even if this grace comes in the last millionth of one millionth of the second before death.
So, yes, make my every prayer your prayer, and then all will be well. With humble faith, I pray, along with all my fellow CatholiCity Citizens and those that they love: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now, and at the hour of our death, Amen.
Thank you for praying with me. I love you all. I'll be back soon.
With Saint Joseph,
Bud Macfarlane
