Is the pope dying, even as we read these lines? It's impossible to know, but the reports about Pope John Paul II that came out of Rome late last night are cause for grave concern.

Dear Father in Heaven,
As brothers and sisters in Christ, we ask you to heal our Holy Father.
He is the rock upon which you build your Church; make him strong again.
Do not allow the jaws of death to prevail against him.
He is all yours Mary, and all that he has is yours; his life is in your hands, now and always.
On the eve of his feastday, we call upon the powerful intercession of Saint Blaise, bishop and martyr, and patron for the healing of maladies of the throat to help heal Pope John Paul II. Amen."
