The CatholiCity Message
Volume VI, Number 5 – March 26, 2002
Dear CatholiCity Citizen,
We hope this final week before Easter is going well for you. As always, we'll be staying up on Good Friday, interceding for you and your families. We've got College Stuff. We've got a new recording from the Mary Foundation in the pipeline. Let's roll...
"He who would do some great things in this short life must apply himself to work with such a concentration of force as, to idle spectators who live only to amuse themselves, looks like insanity."
Francis Parkman
1. AT LONG LAST
It's been over a year since we've released an all-new Catholic recording, but we're in the final stages of production for an early May release after several unavoidable delays. Once again, the talk is worth the wait. Through this CatholiCity Message, CatholiCity Citizens will once again be the first to know when this new free recording–in both audio cassette and CD format–is available. As Drudge says, "developing..."
2. BEST BUYS
If you're not rich and you have a big family and you're worried about how you're going to afford to send your children to college–a reliably Catholic college where the teachings of the Church are the foundation for academics and student life–here are three relatively affordable choices for you:
(TUITIONS PRICES HAVE CHANGED)
A. Our Lady of Corpus Christi College, Texas
Cost per year, including Room and Board: Around $14,000

361.289.9095
B. Ave Maria College, Florida
Cost per year, including Room and Board: Around $14,000

C. Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Academy, Ontario
Cost per year, including Room and Board: Around $5,000 (U.S)

Financial aid is available at Ave Maria and Corpus Christi. Families in the United States should not hesitate to consider Our Lady Seat of Wisdom Academy in Canada, and not merely because of the incredible low cost. Seat of Wisdom offers a rigorous, comprehensive one-year program on a lovely retreat-like campus in a beautiful part of Ontario; its credits are accepted by Ave Maria College and Franciscan University of Steubenville for sophomore year transfers. With all due respect to more well-known and excellent institutions such as Franciscan University, Thomas Aquinas College and Christendom, our children might begin at these young start-ups if they were of age today.
ANOTHER QUOTE
"Today we find the once-private faculty for procreation within marriage exploited to serve the public ambitions of the godless, who target our passions to entice us to consume everything from perfume to popcorn; from tighter abs to looser laws. Sexual 'freedom' is an illusion, for the man beholden to his passions is not free to choose good and is blind to truth. As such, from pornographers to politicians, the agenda of sexual 'liberty' is the modern dictator's first choice and subtle means of enslavement, for it allows him to go about the dreary business of maintaining power unknown and unresisted by slaves who are not aware of their chains."
G.K. MacBrien
3. PRAYER CHANGES THINGS, EVEN US For Holy Week, let's all 70,000 repent together, and for each other, using a prayer that, for most of us, was memorized when we were young, and which we've hopefully repeated countless times while receiving the miracle of absolution during the Sacrament of Reconciliation:
"O my God, I am heartfully sorry for having offended thee, and I detest all my sins because of Thy just punishment, but most of all because I have offended Thee my God, Who is all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve, with the help of Thy grace, to sin no more, and to avoid the near occasion of sin, Amen."
JOKE TIME
A Sunday School class was studying the Ten Commandments. The teacher asked if any student could recite the last commandment. Little Suzie raised her hand, stood up, and proudly proclaimed, "Thou shall not take the covers off thy neighbor's wife!"
Enjoy Easter.
With Christ,
