The CatholiCity Message
Volume II, Number 26 – July 2, 1998
Dear CatholiCity Citizen,
We only have a few items this week, and they're all seriously good. For us, at least. You decide.
1. YOUR CREDIT IS GOOD HERE
Last year, when we were considering shutting down CatholiCity due to a shortage of financial resources, many of you asked us to give you the option of making free-will donations using credit cards online. We had many concerns at the time, including the cost of setting up a secure system. We have done just that. If you have a Visa/Mastercard, and want to test our new online system, even with a $1 "Widow's Mite" gift, please go to:
http://www.catholicity.com/support/donation.html
2. WHILE WE WERE AT IT
You can also request free Mary Foundation CDs and tapes online using a Visa/Mastercard to make a donation, including our sizzling new release: "How to Raise Great Children." Advantage? Speed. Hyper-expedited handling. Your orders will ship the same day if you order before 1:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. Go to:
https://secure.catholicity.com/order.html
3. SHUTTING DOWN CATHOLICITY THIS YEAR
Early this year, we informed you that we would be able to keep CatholiCity online through the summer of 1998, and it looks like we'll be able to do so. We hope we make it to 1999. CatholiCity "costs" many thousands of dollars per month. The biggest costs are:
Salaries
Medical benefits
Fiber Optic T1 Bandwidth
Summer Internships
Computers and Software
4. EYE OF BEHOLDER
Our newest full-time Mary Foundation worker is quite ugly (relax, we asked him for permission to tell you that). He makes up for that with his intelligence and wit, and a lovely wife. Actually he's a handsome gentleman, but 'tis outshone by the greater beauty of his work.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"Real courage is when you know you're licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what."
Harper Lee
BONUS QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"The difference between a hero and a coward is one step sideways."
Gene Hackman
TRIPLE BONUS QUOTE OF THE WEEK
"A pint of sweat will save a gallon of blood."
General George S. Patton
God bless you all and may God's pure grace animate your every thought and deed.
Yours in Christ,
Your Friends at CatholiCity
