Overcome Demonic Influence and Deeply-Rooted Sin by Offering One Brief Prayer 3 Times a Day

In late 2022 I attended a private men's retreat. Our director was the brilliant Father Chad Ripperger, the well-known exorcist.

Father and I got along quite well during his many hours of teaching. Totally normal dude. Deadpan hilarious. Stout, as you can see.

He is the most effective teacher I have ever experienced in person.

Father Ripperger is also responsible for the famous Auxilium Christianorum daily exorcism prayers, which are the foundation of our Mantle of Mary project, a rapidly-expanding national prayer movement to secure a divine intervention to save America.

A Society of Exorcists

Several years ago, Father Chad founded a religious community for exorcists called the Society of the Most Sorrowful Mother (also known as the Doloran Fathers). Monday through Friday, they spend four hours a day in prayer before dedicating the rest of their time ministering to people who are possessed by demons.

During the sessions, a demon will actually take control of a possessed person's body and speak through them (I have witnessed this personally). In effect, Father Chad, for fifteen years, has spent a good portion his days conversing with these vile beings. He has publicly shared that God forced one of these spirits to reveal that he was Lucifer himself.

As you might imagine, the society is contacted by thousands who might be experiencing some sort of demonic manifestation.

The Filtering System

Father Chad and his confreres set up a unique "filtering" system to manage the deluge of requests. All inquiries are first sent to assistants who ask clarifying questions. They typically then recommend what he terms "a spiritual prescription" that consists of praying the Angelus three times a day (at 6 am, noon, and 6 pm).

This is the practice that changed my life—and it will change yours.

The Doloran Fathers meticulously document and analyze all their cases. They have shared their methodology and confirmed their results with exorcists all over the world.

At the retreat Father Chad carefully unpacked what he and his exorcists have discerned from their records and many years of direct interaction with a huge sampling of people suffering from demonic manifestations or plagued by chronic sinful behavior spurred on by evil spirits.

Research Results

Only one or two out of a thousand cases involves actual possession. Effectively, the Three Angelus prescription is the "filter" which differentiates the truly possessed (which is rare) from everyone else. This way the possessed can get the help they need—which can only come from an exorcist appointed by a bishop.

Roughly two hundred out of the thousand are suffering under varying degrees of demonic obsession or oppression (as defined by the Church). They rarely need an exorcist, but can be helped by a well-trained priest.

The remaining eight hundred people will have demonic influence stopped cold or severely mitigated by praying the Angelus three times per day.

"Clean Out" Evil Spirits

Even for those suffering from obsession or oppression, the Three Angelus prescription often is all that is needed to "clean out" (as Father Chad nonchalantly calls it) the demonic activity.

It gets better. Father reports that many people have also been delivered from chronic financial problems and otherwise untreatable illnesses—which can, indeed, be caused by evil spirits in certain instances. I explain more below.

Again, precisely what is the this Angelus Cure that has proved so powerfully effective in thousands of real-world cases?

It consists of offering the traditional Angelus prayer at 6:00 am, noon, and 6:00 pm, every day.

According to Father Ripperger, for more serious demonic manifestations, the Auxilium Christianorum prayers can be added to the Angelus.

Why It Works

Father calls this practice of offering three Angeluses an "elemental spiritual discipline." Elemental means basic or simple. Spiritual means it is the application of a particular, universal, and traditional prayer of the Church. Discipline, in this case, means submitting yourself to a rigid daily schedule.

This, of course, is in addition to going to Confession to remain free from mortal sin and to root out venial sin, attending Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of Obligation, and living a life of meditative prayer (for example, a truly recollected Rosary or thirty minutes of mental prayer) for love of God.

In short, to paraphrase Father Chad on one of his podcasts, "Who knew? Living a normal Catholic life gets rid of almost all demonic activity!"

Of course it does. Practice the Catholic faith. Undertake daily elemental spiritual discipline. The demons, in almost all cases, will leave you alone.

What is the Angelus?

Eight hundred years ago Franciscan monks began offering three Hail Marys when church bells were rung. The Angelus we recite today was first published in a catechism in the year 1560. Popes and saints promoted it, and until recently, Christian families, towns, and even entire countries recited it together publicly at the ringing of the noon bells.

If you examine the Angelus, which takes just minutes to pray, it consists of three scripture quotes highlighting the incarnation of Jesus at the Annunciation, three Hail Marys, and a concluding prayer asking for the grace merited by the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

In other words, it echoes a full Rosary in a compressed form.

It Changed My Life Immediately

Before the retreat even concluded, my buddies and I began offering the Angelus at 6-Noon-6 right away. It was difficult for the first few days—I kept falling back to sleep at 6 am—or my phone's alarm mysteriously failed to go off. Although it takes just two minutes, I found myself extraordinarily distracted or interrupted in uncanny ways in the middle of the prayers.

My friends had similar experiences, but we stuck with it, and the new spiritual habit quickly formed within a week. Now I look forward to raising my heart to heaven multiple times a day! Whenever I am with another Catholic, in person or during phone calls, we pray it together.

Consider inviting a close friend, spouse, or loved one to join you. There is a good reason why the Holy Spirit developed the Angelus into both an individual and a group prayer over the centuries.

It helped that I had memorized the simple prayers decades ago. (You yourself will memorize it quickly after reading it three times a day.)

Decades of Struggle—Gone!

What immediately changed for me was the ebbing away of my impulse to commit certain mortal and venial sins I have struggled against for years or decades.

That evil outside "push," which I always misattributed as solely my own defect, has almost completely disappeared!

Additionally and simultaneously, common circumstances that foster temptation, which we all experience (which the Catholic Church calls "near occasions of sin"), have diminished significantly or disappeared altogether.

You will have more grace to resist temptation during near occasions of sin. You will enjoy more awareness of these situations before they develop, or, become acutely mindful of them as they happen—and thus be able to avoid or change the circumstances.

Form Better Social Habits

It is also easier for me to form virtuous social habits in everyday life which did not seem, at first glance, directly connected to spirituality. For example, for many months before learning about the Three Angelus Cure, I had difficulty with a commitment to refrain from interrupting others during conversations. Purging this bad habit became much easier right away.

This happened to me in multiple areas of sin or faults, and it happened immediately—merely by praying the Angelus three times a day. With faith like a little boy—on a schedule given to me by an exorcist.

It worked for me. You should definitely consider incorporating the Three Angelus prescription into your life right away.

Catching on Like Wildfire

The practice is catching on like wildfire among my friends—and by leaps and bounds in Catholic circles all over the country through Father Ripperger's podcasts. Tens of thousands have learned about it through this article, which you can text and share widely in your own circle of influence.

Financial and Health Problems

Father Chad noted that even mortally sinful habits, mysterious illnesses, or financial problems—which can plague sincere Catholics for years or decades—can be alleviated over weeks or months of the practice, especially when combined with his daily Auxilium Christianorum exorcism prayers.

I must note that not all sin involves demonic activity (although demons are involved with most temptation). Father Chad teaches on his podcasts that if one undertakes the spiritual prescription in conjunction with binding prayers, and nothing improves, this usually indicates that the sinful habit is likely a result of human cause or a psychological problem.
